Lucknow, Nov 10 (NationPress) The Special Task Force (STF) has dismantled a significant operation engaged in the unlawful production and trafficking of oxytocin injections and apprehended two suspects in Ujariyaon village located in the Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow, as reported by police on Monday.

The suspects were taken into custody following a raid on a residence in Ujariyaon village where the illicit activities were being conducted. According to officials from the STF, one of the arrested individuals is identified as the leading figure of this smuggling operation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (STF) Deepak Singh stated that for an extended period, hazardous oxytocin injections were being produced and distributed throughout Lucknow, neighboring districts, and other states such as Bihar and Delhi.

“The members of this gang imported the raw powder from China and combined it with phenol, urea, salt, vinegar, and dye to manufacture the injections,” Singh revealed.

He added that the seized injections are valued at approximately ₹1 crore.

The apprehended individuals have been named as Qayum Ali, from Malakpur village in Baraut, Baghpat district, and his accomplice Mohammad Ibrahim, from Madeyganj Kadam in Rasool Ward.

The location of the injection manufacturing was confirmed by police to be in the same vicinity.

Following intelligence reports, Inspector Harish Chauhan and his team from the STF conducted surveillance and executed the raid on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the arrests of Qayum and Ibrahim.

A considerable quantity of oxytocin injections and the raw materials used for production were confiscated from the scene.

According to DSP Singh, Qayum admitted during questioning that the injection powder was sourced from China via courier, first reaching Loni Katra in Ghaziabad and subsequently being transported to Lucknow.

The finalized injections were then distributed to various states through a network of agents who sold them to dairies, vegetable vendors, and farmers.

The injections were used on animals to enhance milk production, while some farmers allegedly utilized the chemically treated water to wash vegetables, making them appear fresher and more appealing to command higher prices.

Singh cautioned that consuming milk or vegetables treated with oxytocin could lead to serious health complications, including cancer and other chronic illnesses.

Samples of the confiscated materials have been sent to a laboratory for analysis.

During the raid, the STF confiscated 1,018 vials (180 ml each) of oxytocin injection, 70 liters of oxytocin solution (14 cans of five liters each), 55 liters of phenol, 27 liters of vinegar, 16,500 empty vials, nine cap sealers, 3,000 blue aluminum caps, 3,000 red aluminum caps, 2,500 rubber caps, 19 kg of salt, a PhonePe scanner, three mobile phones, and ₹790 in cash.

Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing with further details yet to be disclosed.
