New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) Prateek Yadav, the son of the late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, made headlines on Monday by declaring his intention to seek a divorce from his wife, BJP leader Aparna Yadav. He accused her of damaging his family relationships.
In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, Prateek expressed his feelings, stating that Aparna is motivated purely by her personal ambitions. “I plan to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She has destroyed my family connections. Her only desire is to gain fame and power,” he wrote.
Prateek also mentioned that he has been facing challenges with his mental health and claimed that Aparna has shown little regard for his well-being. “At this moment, I am in a quite poor mental state, and she doesn’t care. Her only focus is on herself. I have never encountered such a malicious person, and I regret marrying her,” he added.
Married in 2011, Prateek and Aparna share two children. By profession, Prateek is a recognized real estate developer and fitness enthusiast, specializing in property and fitness businesses in Lucknow and its surroundings after completing his MBA at Leeds University, UK.
He is also notable for his commitment to animal welfare, supporting various initiatives aimed at protecting animals.
Unlike many in the Yadav family, Prateek has not engaged in politics or held any political office, maintaining a distance from political affairs.
Aparna Yadav has progressively gained prominence in politics and social initiatives. In 2022, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, a significant shift given her previous alliance with the Samajwadi Party.
Aparna is the daughter of Arvind Singh Bisht, a journalist currently serving as the Uttar Pradesh State Information Commissioner, and Ambi Bisht, who works with the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. As an alumna of the University of Manchester, she holds a master’s degree in International Relations and Politics and has trained in classical music at the Bhatkhande Music Institute in Lucknow.
In addition to her political endeavors, Aparna is dedicated to social causes. She founded an NGO named ‘B Aware’ focusing on animal welfare and advocating for women’s rights and empowerment.
Entering active politics in 2017, she contested the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from the Lucknow Cantonment seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket before switching to the BJP in January 2022.
Aparna has openly supported several BJP policies, including the abrogation of Article 370 and the National Register of Citizens. She has also contributed ₹11 lakh for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
On September 11, 2024, Aparna Yadav took over as the Vice-Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission.
