Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday, 1 July dedicated 325 Amrit Sarovars and 70 advanced life support ambulances to residents of his constituency, while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of development projects worth over ₹337 crore at a function in Naraingarh, his Assembly seat in Ambala district. The event, held on National Doctors' Day, doubled as a platform to highlight the state government's healthcare and rural infrastructure push.
Key Projects Inaugurated
The ₹337 crore package encompasses seven major healthcare initiatives worth ₹114 crore and 325 Amrit Sarovars constructed at a combined cost of ₹223 crore. Among the healthcare additions, a 50-bed hospital block built at nearly ₹32 crore was inaugurated, raising the capacity of the Civil Hospital, Naraingarh to 100 beds. A Block Public Health Unit, built at an estimated ₹50 lakh, was also opened to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.
Addressing the gathering, CM Saini described the occasion as 'historic not only for Naraingarh but for the entire state,' framing the projects as a step towards realising the vision of a 'Swasth, Samriddh aur Viksit Haryana' — a healthy, prosperous, and developed Haryana.
Infrastructure and Education Highlights
The Chief Minister listed several completed works in the constituency, including the Yamunanagar-Panchkula National Highway-73, constructed at ₹1,112 crore, the Government Women's College at Baragarh, the Fatehgarh-Raiwali road and bridge, the Naraingarh four-lane road, and a modern sports stadium. He also noted that the current state Budget had announced a new Government Polytechnic Institute for Naraingarh, and that 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) are being established across Haryana, including IMT Ambala-Naraingarh.
Welfare and Farmer Support Measures
On welfare, CM Saini said nearly 10 lakh women had received financial assistance totalling ₹1,415 crore under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, with eligible beneficiaries receiving ₹2,100 per month. On agriculture, he stated that Haryana has been procuring all 24 notified crops at the minimum support price (MSP), with ₹1.80 lakh crore transferred directly to the bank accounts of 12 lakh farmers.
He further said farmers had received ₹16,530 crore over the past 11-and-a-half years in crop loss compensation and under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana — compared to ₹1,138 crore during the previous Congress government's tenure. The government also reportedly cleared ₹269 crore in pending compensation liabilities left by the prior administration after taking office in 2014.
Agricultural Fraud Law and Horticulture Cover
Referring to farm input quality, CM Saini said the government had enacted a stringent law providing up to five years' imprisonment for the sale of fake fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides. He added that 46 crops have been brought under the Mukhyamantri Bagwani Bima Yojana (MBBY), under which 157 farmers have so far received ₹1.40 crore in assistance.
The Chief Minister also paid tribute to eminent physician and freedom fighter Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy on National Doctors' Day, recalling his belief that 'healthy citizens are the greatest strength of a strong nation.' With assembly elections on the horizon, the scale of the Naraingarh event signals the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government's intent to consolidate its development narrative in the region.
