Bhopal, April 18 (NationPress) Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday launched a fierce critique against senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, labeling him as “anti-national” due to a contentious video that has emerged online.

The video, disseminated by BJP leaders including Scindia, allegedly depicts Digvijaya Singh asserting that he aimed to provoke communal unrest in Bhopal following the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992. The BJP has referred to it as a “communal confession”.

Scindia, who was previously allied with Digvijaya Singh in Congress but is now one of his staunchest adversaries, posted the video on the social media platform X, adding a Hindi proverb that translates to, “A wooden pot can’t be reused,” implying that Singh’s true nature has been revealed.

He remarked, “No matter how many masks anti-national Congress leaders wear, the truth always comes out.”

This prompted strong backlash from Congress figures in Madhya Pradesh. Senior Congress member and former state minister P.C. Sharma retaliated by accusing Scindia of sharing a manipulated video.

Sharma also shared an old video of Scindia’s late father, former Union Minister Madhavrao Scindia, urging him to adhere to his father's principles.

“Don’t get blinded by power and position. If you had heeded your respected father’s views on the BJP, you wouldn’t have circulated this fake video. The BJP engages in hate politics and incites riots -- which can never be beneficial for the country,” Sharma posted on X.

The uproar began on Thursday when BJP leader and state Youth and Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang shared the video online, asserting it was evidence of Digvijaya Singh's involvement in the 1992 Bhopal riots.

In the video, Singh reportedly states: “When Babri Masjid was demolished, I was the state Congress president. I remained at the party office for a week and made all possible efforts for communal violence.”

Nonetheless, Singh has firmly rejected the video’s authenticity, labeling it as altered. He claimed that the crucial word “no” was omitted from the statement, thereby changing its intent.

“Everyone knows how the BJP disseminates fake news. In my complete sentence, they intentionally removed the word ‘na’ (no),” Digvijaya Singh declared in a statement on Thursday.
