Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 23 (NationPress) In preparation for the Republic Day festivities, comprehensive security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety of the official parades and flag-hoisting events in Jammu and Kashmir.

The security personnel have taken control of the Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) Stadium in Jammu and the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, where the primary Republic Day events will take place.

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha will raise the national flag and review the main parade at the MAM Stadium, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as the chief guest. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary will hoist the Tricolour and oversee the parade at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar on January 26. Security forces have secured both locations and the surrounding high-rise buildings.

Multiple barricades have been set up throughout Srinagar city. Special checkpoints have been established by security forces, particularly in R.S. Pura, where thorough vehicle inspections are being conducted to maintain safety.

Drones have been deployed for monitoring any suspicious activities, complemented by a three-tier security perimeter, CCTV cameras, and an anti-sabotage protocol to enhance vigilance.

Sharpshooters are stationed in tall buildings around the stadiums to avert any potential incidents. While access to both main stadia is free, it is strictly controlled through electronic access systems, human oversight, and aerial monitoring via drones.

Entry into Srinagar city is regulated, involving random vehicle checks and passenger screenings. Suspicious movements in both Srinagar and Jammu are being closely watched by numerous plainclothes policemen.

Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, the divisional commissioner of Kashmir, stated that this year's overall security arrangements surpass those of previous years, as a significant turnout is anticipated at the Bakshi Stadium, where entry is free.

In Jammu, those wishing to attend the main event at the MAM Stadium can also enter freely, but with strict regulation.

Flag hoisting and parades at other district locations will be overseen by ministers and heads of the district development councils (DDCs).

Cultural events showcasing the multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-religious unity of J&K will be organized at divisional and district levels during the primary function on January 26.

Security forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), are actively patrolling the hinterlands and areas near the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) to thwart infiltration and other anti-national activities aimed at disrupting the peaceful environment during the Republic Day celebrations.
