Why Must Settlers in Karnataka Honor Kannada and Locals?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Nov 1 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje emphasized that individuals who choose to make Karnataka their home must show respect for the Kannada language and its local populace.
During her address to the media at the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations held at the BJP headquarters in Bengaluru on Saturday, Shobha remarked, “Anyone is welcome to Karnataka, just as residents from here can relocate to other places. However, newcomers who decide to settle in Karnataka must honor the language of the land and its people. This is imperative.”
“We are celebrating Kannada Rajyotsava with great pride and respect throughout the state and the nation. Even those living abroad are raising the Kannada flag. This flag symbolizes prosperity, and its elevation brings us esteem. I pay tribute to the remarkable individuals who fought for the Kannada region, language, and the unification of Karnataka,” she expressed.
“Today’s Karnataka is a result of their dedication. It was their struggles that led to the establishment of Karnataka’s borders and the recognition of Kannada as the official language. It is our responsibility to safeguard and promote the Kannada language. We should incorporate Kannada more in our daily conversations and business dealings. Additionally, all government communications should be conducted in Kannada,” Shobha further explained.
The Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with immense enthusiasm at the BJP State Headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, where Shobha Karandlaje hoisted the flag and delivered an important message.
When questioned about Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's frustrations regarding delayed pothole repairs and instructing reporters to consult Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, she responded, “The Congress-led government keeps issuing deadlines. These deadlines pass, yet no visible development occurs. In Bengaluru, over six individuals have lost their lives from falling off two-wheelers due to the abysmal road conditions. Who will take responsibility for these fatalities? Who will support the bereaved families?”
“There is a lack of accountability. The state government and its ministers are engaging in misgovernance. They show no regard for citizens or their essential needs. Their primary focus seems to be on retaining and amassing power. This is the only discourse within the Congress-led administration,” she alleged.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is preoccupied with attending events, while the citizens of Bengaluru are enduring the city’s dreadful state. Investors from around the world are now contemplating relocation. Bengaluru, once a source of pride, has devolved into a city plagued by potholes,” she asserted.
“Visitors to Bengaluru from other nations frequently comment on its declining state,” she remarked.
In response to the civic body’s initiative of dumping garbage in front of residences of individuals who improperly dispose of waste, the minister stated, “Those who cannot operate efficiently resort to such measures. Is this truly a solution? They collect taxes for waste management, yet the state government and Bengaluru’s ministers have fallen short.”
