Mysuru, Sep 22 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a challenge to his political adversaries and critics on Monday, asserting that if they wished to engage in politics, they should do so on the electoral battleground rather than during the state festival. "Avoid engaging in low-grade political maneuvers during Dusshera," he stated after paying homage to Goddess Chamundeshwari and commencing the globally renowned historical Dusshera celebrations in Mysuru city alongside Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq.
"Individuals lacking an understanding of Dusshera and our rich cultural heritage have opposed Booker Prize recipient Banu Mushtaq. Twisting history and partaking in self-serving politics is an unforgivable offense. If you intend to engage in politics, do so during elections. Do not degrade the significance of the state festival with trivial politics," he remarked.
"The majority of our state's populace has embraced Banu Mushtaq's role in inaugurating Dusshera. This represents a source of pride. It is fitting that Booker Prize laureate Banu Mushtaq inaugurated Dusshera. More than her identity as a Muslim woman, Banu Mushtaq embodies humanitarian principles. We, as humans, must foster love for one another. Hatred is contrary to humanity. Consequently, those who propagate hatred are, in essence, against humanity," the Chief Minister emphasized.
"Individuals who adhere to the constitutional values of tolerance and coexistence are the genuine Indians. Our Constitution is secular and non-religious. Both the High Court and Supreme Court have affirmed this. Only those who take pride in calling themselves Indians will honor the Constitution. To understand our rights and responsibilities, we must be familiar with the Constitution," he continued.
Referencing the esteemed Kannada poet Kuvempu, Siddaramaiah criticized communal factions, stating: "We must not overlook Kuvempu’s wisdom. Step outside the confines of temples, churches, and mosques. Let us cultivate the state as Kuvempu envisioned—a harmonious garden for all communities."
"We have enacted guarantees for the impoverished across all castes, religions, and political affiliations, in alignment with the spirit of the Constitution. Are BJP leaders not beneficiaries of these guarantees?" Siddaramaiah inquired.
"These guarantees are here to stay. Thanks to them, our state's per capita income has reached the top position in the country. Today, we are also ranked number one in GDP in India," he stated with pride.
"On one hand, BJP leaders oppose our guarantees, while on the other, they are appropriating them," the Chief Minister charged.
