New Delhi, June 16 (NationPress) Sikkim's Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in the national capital on Monday, extending heartfelt greetings on behalf of the citizens of Sikkim.
During this significant meeting, the Chief Minister presented the President with a souvenir, a commemorative coin, and a postage stamp issued to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim's integration as a state within the Indian Union.
He characterized the occasion as a historic moment that epitomizes the unity and aspirations of the Sikkimese people.
The commemorative items were part of the state’s ongoing festivities, which honor its five-decade journey of growth and harmony within the Indian federation.
“I had the distinct privilege of meeting the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu Ji, in New Delhi and conveyed warm regards on behalf of the people of Sikkim. I also presented the souvenir and the commemorative coin and stamp issued for the Golden Jubilee celebration, marking 50 years of Sikkim as a state of the Indian Union. It was a proud occasion to share this landmark and the collective spirit of our people with the highest office of the nation,” he stated on X following the meeting.
Additionally, Sikkim's Governor Om Prakash Mathur met with the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, in New Delhi on the same day.
In this meeting, the Governor informed the Vice President about various ongoing developmental projects in Sikkim and addressed matters of mutual interest related to the state's advancement. Discussions included topics such as infrastructure, education, tourism, and welfare initiatives for the Sikkimese population.
Continuing the series of meetings with dignitaries in the national capital, Governor Mathur also met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his office.
