Gangtok, April 23 (NationPress) Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay welcomed a group from the Parliamentary Committee on Subordinate Legislation, Rajya Sabha, at his official residence, Mintokgang on Wednesday, as confirmed by officials.

The delegation was headed by Milind Deora, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Committee, accompanied by senior officials and members of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat.

Also present was Sikkim’s Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, Indra Hang Subba.

During their discussions, the Chief Minister and the committee members focused on the comprehensive development of the Northeastern region, particularly emphasizing Sikkim.

Crucial topics of interest included infrastructure development, enhancing regional connectivity, and identifying investment potentials in areas such as sustainable tourism, organic farming, and clean energy.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the committee’s visit and their committed interest in the region's advancement.

Principal Chief Engineer and Secretary of the Power Department, Bikash Deokota, highlighted the state’s active promotion of solar power projects, focusing on rooftop installations and off-grid systems.

He noted that the solar rooftop initiative is essential for maintaining the state’s financial sustainability.

Sikkim is witnessing a notable increase in rooftop solar installations, which significantly contribute to the state's overall solar capacity.
