New Delhi, June 17 (NationPress) Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday that the Delhi government is set to implement a single-window system to facilitate the approval of permits and address grievances associated with Kanwar camps during the sacred month of Sawan.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the administration will provide comprehensive support to committees dedicated to serving Shiva devotees, ensuring the availability of essential services such as electricity, water, medicines, sanitation, and other necessary amenities.
“Our duty is to ensure that not a single stone disrupts the journey of the Shiva devotees. The Kanwar Yatra represents a celebration of faith, devotion, and discipline, and the government is committed to making it as smooth and efficient as possible,” stated the CM.
She mentioned that the government will supervise all arrangements through its Ministers, District Development Committee (DDC) Chairpersons, and District Magistrates.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister convened a meeting with representatives from various Kanwar camp committees across Delhi to address their concerns and discuss the necessary facilities.
In attendance were Delhi Government Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Kapil Mishra, alongside senior officials and representatives from the Fire Services, Electricity Department, and other relevant agencies.
In response to the issues raised by the Kanwar camp representatives, CM Gupta reassured them that they would not encounter the same administrative challenges that plagued them under the previous administration.
“Despite significant funds being allocated in the past, Shiv devotees faced many obstacles. This time, we are determined to prevent that from happening,” she affirmed.
The Chief Minister declared her administration's commitment to taking full responsibility for managing the Kanwar camps and resolving any issues faced by organizing committees.
She highlighted that the Single-Window System would ensure the seamless setup of camps and uninterrupted service delivery.
DDC Chairpersons and District Magistrates will assist the committees in addressing concerns, while Ministers will oversee the process to guarantee that any difficulties are prioritized.
She assured that there would be no compromise on essential services such as medical aid, medicines, electricity connections, water supply, sanitation, toilets, fire safety, security, and effective traffic management at the camps.
The Kanwar Yatra is one of the most significant religious traditions in North India, where millions of devotees gather sacred Ganga water from Haridwar, Gangotri, and other holy sites to present at Shiva temples.
Each year, countless Kanwar devotees traverse through Delhi on their way to other states. To receive and accommodate them, Kanwar camps are established throughout various parts of the city.
