Bhubaneswar, Sep 3 (NationPress) A court in Nabarangpur district of Odisha on Wednesday found six family members guilty in a murder case linked to an incident reported at the Kodinga police station in 2022. The convicted individuals were Ananta Pujari, aged 50, his spouse Dalimba, and their sons Siba Sankar and Chandan, along with Dumar Pujari, aged 70, the father of Ananta.

The family hails from Baramasi village, located within the jurisdiction of Kodinga police station. According to sources, both families had been embroiled in a longstanding feud over ancestral property disputes.

On September 9, 2022, the victim, Dambaru Pujari, was in his bean garden with family members, including two women, when the convicts arrived armed with lethal weapons such as swords and axes, as stated by Santosh Mishra, the Additional Public Prosecutor.

Mishra elaborated that the assailants unexpectedly attacked Dambaru and his brother Padlam with sharp instruments. They even ran a tractor over Padlam with malicious intent.

As a result, Padlam suffered severe leg injuries from this brutal act. Subsequently, both Dalimba and Chandan Pujari allegedly stabbed Dambaru from both the front and back.

In the meantime, Siba and a minor operated the tractor over Dambaru. They then fled the scene, mistakenly believing Dambaru was dead. One of Dambaru's brothers, Bharat, quickly took both Dambaru and Padlam to the District Headquarters Hospital in Nabarangpur for urgent medical care.

However, Dambaru's health worsened, necessitating a transfer to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. Tragically, Dambaru succumbed to his injuries there on August 16, 2022.

A case (114/22) was registered by the police based on Bharat's complaint, leading to the arrest of the accused on September 10, 2022. After thorough examination of witness testimonies and evidence, the court rendered its verdict on Wednesday.

Ananta received a life sentence, and likewise, the other family members were also given life imprisonment.
