Ahmedabad, June 13 (NationPress) In a devastating incident that resulted in the loss of 241 lives, only one individual emerged alive from the wreckage of the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh. Currently receiving care at Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, Ramesh is reported to be in stable condition.

He shared the traumatic details of the crash and his miraculous survival.

"Everything burned before my eyes," Ramesh recalled, describing how the aircraft halted abruptly for a moment during takeoff before violently lurching forward, with the runway lights flashing green and white. “It felt like the pilot struggled to lift the plane. Moments later, we collided with a building. The entire aircraft became an inferno before I could comprehend what was unfolding.”

Ramesh was situated in the part of the plane that impacted the lower section of the hostel building. “The section I was in hit the building first,” he explained. “I fell with my seat as the structure crumbled. Fortunately, there was some open space in front of me, and I managed to crawl out. But on the other side of the aircraft, there was a wall preventing any escape. I witnessed two air hostesses and an elderly couple engulfed in flames. My left hand was burned. But I survived. Just a few seconds later, and I might not have.”

A resident of Leicester, UK, Ramesh was traveling with his brother Ajay on flight AI-171 to London. His other brother, Nayan, confirmed that while Vishwas is safe and recovering, Ajay remains unaccounted for. “We’ve spoken to Vishwas. He’s in the hospital, but we still have no news of Ajay. We’re holding onto hope,” he stated.

In the meantime, efforts to identify the victims of the tragic Air India Flight AI-171 crash are ongoing at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad, where bodies are being brought in for post-mortem examinations. So far, five bodies have been identified and respectfully returned to their families.

These include two victims from Rajasthan, two from Bhavnagar, and one from Madhya Pradesh.

Officials at the Civil Hospital confirmed that DNA samples have been collected from 192 families to aid in the identification process. A large team of 70 to 80 medical professionals, including those from PHCs and CHCs throughout Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, and Nadiad, has been working tirelessly in the post-mortem room since Thursday.
