Haridwar, Jan 5 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to join the Somnath Swabhiman Parv on January 11, commemorating the enduring spirit of Indian civilization.
In a recent blog entry, the Prime Minister celebrated 1,000 years of resilience exhibited by the Somnath temple, recognizing it as a beacon of India’s unyielding spirit.
Following PM Modi's reflections on the temple's historical significance and the initial assault it faced, numerous Hindu saints and spiritual leaders shared their insights on the temple's importance in Hinduism and its spiritual heritage.
Mahamandaleshwar Rupendra Prakash from Haridwar told IANS that the temple represents the unwavering resilience and spirit of the Hindu faith.
“The temple was invaded and ravaged by Mahmud of Ghazni. As we honor 1,000 years since that first attack, we feel immense pride in its survival against all odds. The temple symbolizes bravery and valor, and it is encouraging to see the current government recognize it as a spiritual asset rather than a burden,” he remarked.
He emphasized the duty of both central and state governments to safeguard temples from any future threats, drawing parallels between ancient kings and today's public officials.
He further praised PM Narendra Modi for his leadership and acknowledged the government's initiatives in temple preservation.
“I commend the government's efforts to preserve and restore temples. PM Modi’s initiatives for Kashi Vishwanath, Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Mahakal corridor, Somnath corridor, and the Dwarka corridor will be remembered in history,” he added.
Shankaracharya Mahesh Ji Maharaj, the Peethadheeshwar of Kurukshetra, echoed these sentiments and expressed gratitude toward the Prime Minister for enhancing Hindu shrines, simplifying pilgrimages to various temples.
He stated, “Chaar Dham was created by divine forces. No Mughal emperor, despite their cruelties, could demolish the Somnath temple. This temple is eternal and will endure till the end of time.”
Notably, PM Modi, in his blog, recounted the historical context of the Somnath Temple and its destruction by invaders centuries ago. He asserted that there is no better example of India's indomitable civilizational spirit than the Somnath temple, which remains steadfast despite countless assaults and immense challenges.
He stated that the Somnath temple stands strong despite numerous attempts by tyrants to obliterate it.
"The aggressors of the past have become mere dust in the wind. They are footnotes in history, while Somnath remains radiant, symbolizing the eternal spirit that could not be extinguished by the 1026 attack. Somnath is a melody of hope, reminding us that while hate and fanaticism may cause destruction for a time, faith and dedication to goodness can create lasting legacies," PM Modi added.
