He emphasized that the state has formally requested a special relief package from the Union government to aid in the rehabilitation of families that have lost their homes, agricultural land, and sources of livelihood.
With the monsoon season just beginning, he remarked that vigilance is crucial as the duration of rainfall remains extensive.
During discussions with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, assurances were given to sympathetically consider the state's requests.
CM Sukhu stated, "We are not seeking credit; we are ready to collaborate with anyone under his leadership for the benefit of those affected by the disaster."

He also called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit the disaster-stricken regions for an on-the-ground assessment.
He revealed that the Home Minister has committed to visiting these areas soon.
Responding to a question from the media, the Chief Minister expressed that cutting down fruit-laden apple trees is not a suitable approach, and he expects the High Court to grant the state adequate time to auction the apple harvest.
He plans to convene a meeting with the Horticulture Minister and other senior officials to discuss the legal implications of this matter.
CM Sukhu also met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite crucial infrastructure initiatives, including the construction of the Bhubhu Jot tunnel to benefit local residents.
He discussed the collapsed building incident at Dhalli with Nitin Gadkari, who has promised fair compensation to the affected family.
