New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) Elon Musk's Starlink is moving closer to its much-anticipated commercial launch in India, as the firm has unveiled complete residential pricing on its Indian website. The satellite internet service is set at Rs 8,600 each month, with new users required to buy a hardware kit priced at Rs 34,000.
The residential plan allows users to evaluate service quality in their locality prior to a long-term commitment, featuring unlimited data and a 30-day trial period.
Starlink highlights attributes such as easy plug-and-play installation, over 99.9% uptime, resistance to extreme weather conditions, and no data limitations in its efforts to cater to consumers in areas where traditional broadband is unreliable.
While the details of the residential package are now publicly available, the company has not yet disclosed the pricing for its business-tier services. Starlink is expected to reveal its complete commercial offerings once discussions with government authorities advance.
Recent recruitment actions by the company suggest a preparation for a larger operational scale in anticipation of the launch. In late October, SpaceX opened four positions in Bengaluru: Payments Manager, Accounting Manager, Senior Treasury Analyst, and Tax Manager, describing this hiring as part of a broader strategy for international expansion.
Previously, the Maharashtra government signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited to collaborate on delivering satellite-based internet services for government entities, rural areas, and critical public infrastructure across remote and underserved regions in Maharashtra, including Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv, and Washim.
The LoI was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state Information Technology Minister Ashish Shelar.
“It was a delight to welcome Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Starlink, in Mumbai, where the Government of Maharashtra signed an LoI with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited, making Maharashtra the first Indian state to officially collaborate with Starlink. Elon Musk's Starlink stands as one of the largest companies in the ICT sector, boasting the highest number of communication satellites globally. We are honored to have the company entering India and partnering with Maharashtra,” CM Fadnavis shared on his official X handle.
