Srinagar, Nov 2 (NationPress) The Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL), a T20 cricket tournament taking place in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar city, which includes local, national, and international players, has encountered significant challenges as some participants find themselves stranded at a local hotel while organizers reportedly abandon the Valley.

This prestigious cricket tournament, sponsored by private entities, faces turmoil after numerous players allegedly boycotted matches due to unpaid dues, leading to chaos within the event.

Recent reports indicate that the players scheduled to participate were instructed “not to come to the stadium” owing to “technical issues” that resulted in match cancellations.

Previously, a cricketer from the valley publicly declared his decision to withdraw from the tournament, citing inconsistencies and a lack of transparency regarding contracts and payments.

In the meantime, matches planned for Saturday and today at Bakshi Stadium were also called off after players refused to take the field.

Officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, a government organization, clarified that they are not involved in the league, as it operates privately.

They mentioned that their role was limited to providing the ground, with fees applied per the Council's guidelines.

One player, whose match was set for today, revealed he was advised not to go to the ground due to “technical issues.” He stated, “My match was scheduled for today, and when I called my manager for an update, I was told not to come to the stadium as there were some technical problems.”

While several international players have already departed from Srinagar, many cricketers, predominantly from Jammu and Kashmir, remain lodged at a local hotel.

Individuals associated with catering, bus drivers, and others have also reported not receiving their payments.

They expressed their concerns and uncertainty regarding their compensation.

This league was endorsed by a prominent cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir. It’s important to note that the IHPL is not recognized by the BCCI or the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
