Kurukshetra, Nov 29 (NationPress) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized on Saturday that his administration is dedicated to its endeavor of reclaiming numerous acres of public land from "land jihadis" and shutting down illegally-operated madrasas.
At the International Gita Mahotsav in Haryana's Kurukshetra, CM Dhami highlighted that his government has implemented a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and established a stringent anti-rioting legislation. The government has taken strict action against encroachers, closed down 250 illegal madrasas, and expelled intruders from "devbhoomi".
"To combat forces fostering a divisive mindset, the state government has also resolved to dismantle the madrasa board effective from July 1, 2026," he stated, adding that all madrasas not adhering to the curriculum set by the State Education Board will be mandated to shut down.
"In Dev Bhoomi, we will not permit institutions that endorse 'jihadi' and 'separatist' ideologies. Our focus is solely on promoting temples that disseminate knowledge," he asserted.
He shared that he draws inspiration from the teachings of The Gita for decision-making in all aspects of life, including national service.
Quoting The Gita, he highlighted that every action aimed at public welfare represents the highest form of religion.
"The essence of The Gita is to transcend self-interest and serve the nation and society," he remarked.
CM Dhami noted that 'The Gita' is being examined by scholars worldwide to enhance management skills, personal tranquility, and efficacy during challenging situations.
Beyond imparting practical wisdom, 'The Gita' also motivates individuals to progress in life while confronting obstacles, he mentioned, adding that state school students are encouraged to recite The Gita shlokas daily.
CM Dhami affirmed that under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is advancing toward comprehensive development.
He underscored that Uttarakhand is the only state to implement the UCC, addressing personal issues such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption for citizens across all religions.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister also showcased his government's initiatives to enhance the aesthetics of worship sites in Kedar Khand and Manas Khand.
CM Dhami further announced that the state is working on creating a Shri Krishna-Yamuna Tirth circuit.
Earlier, in a message on X, the Chief Minister stated, "Uttarakhand is swiftly carving out its unique identity as the spiritual capital of the world. The proposed 'Centre for Hindu Studies' at Doon University is a significant step in this direction."
He explained that this center will connect advanced research on the Vedas, Upanishads, Hindu philosophy, culture, art, yoga, and the Indian knowledge tradition with contemporary academic practices.
"Through global collaborations, structured teaching programs, and research-oriented studies, this center will lay a robust foundation for positioning Uttarakhand as a global academic hub for the Indian knowledge tradition," concluded the Chief Minister on X.
