Chennai, Nov 29 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday vehemently condemned the Union government for what he termed a persistent and intentional disregard of his state's rightful demands, emphasizing that no administration claiming to lead the “world’s largest democracy” holds the ethical authority to overlook the voice of an entire populace.
These comments precede the imminent Parliament session, where the state’s Members of Parliament (MPs) are anticipated to highlight numerous long-overdue matters concerning fiscal allocations, development initiatives, and federal responsibilities.
In a pointed statement, the Chief Minister noted that Tamil Nadu’s grievances — consistently communicated through official correspondence, direct appeals, and even resolutions enacted by the state Assembly — have not garnered the constructive attention they deserve from the Centre.
“It is neither just nor democratic for the Union government to remain unresponsive to the genuine needs and aspirations of the citizens of Tamil Nadu,” he stated.
The Chief Minister underscored that Tamil Nadu ranks among the top contributors of tax revenue to the Union treasury, yet continues to experience what he described as unfairness in the distribution of funds, project approvals, and the disbursement of dues tied to centrally sponsored programs.
“Anyone with a sense of justice would reject such bias,” Stalin asserted, reiterating that the state will persist in advocating for the principles of federalism and equitable treatment.
Despite what he referred to as the Centre’s “acts of neglect,” Stalin emphasized Tamil Nadu’s robust economic performance, noting that the state achieved a remarkable 11.19 percent economic growth — one of the highest rates in the nation.
“We have attained this progress not by yielding to pressure, but by standing firm. We refuse to back down; we will continue to advance with confidence,” he proclaimed.
The Chief Minister further declared that the upcoming Parliament session will be pivotal, and the Union government will be obliged to address the concerns raised by Tamil Nadu’s elected officials.
He stated that the state’s MPs will vigorously articulate the needs of the populace and demand accountability on matters ranging from GST dues and disaster relief funds to essential infrastructure approvals.
Stalin insisted that Tamil Nadu, with its effective governance model and economic contributions, merits respect and meaningful dialogue from the Union government. “Our voice will resonate — not as a request, but as a rightful demand in a democracy,” he asserted.
