Patna, Sep 13 (NationPress) Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav and the MLA from Hasanpur, made a significant announcement on Saturday regarding the establishment of his own political party in preparation for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
The newly formed party, named Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), was officially registered in 2020 and has now received the blackboard symbol from the Election Commission.
During a large gathering of party supporters, Tej Pratap unveiled the creation of a new coalition called Bihar Alliance, through which he intends to participate in the upcoming state elections.
When asked about his differences with the leadership of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), he stated, 'I am not hungry for the post of Chief Minister. For me, the entire Bihar is my family.'
In response to past comments he made regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother during the Voter Adhikar Yatra, Tej Pratap emphasized, 'There should be no politics on mothers -- whether by Congress, BJP or anyone else. Whoever does so will be cursed by God.'
This announcement follows his expulsion from the RJD and the Yadav family for a duration of six years earlier this year, which was prompted by a controversy surrounding photos of him with a woman named Anuskha Yadav that circulated on social media.
Tej Pratap has since expressed his desire to contest from the Mahua Assembly constituency, a seat he previously won in 2015.
Despite his removal from the RJD, he has maintained an active political presence.
Recently, Tej Pratap was spotted in Raghopur, which is the stronghold of his younger brother and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, where his social work garnered attention.
A viral video shared by his sister Rohini Acharya showcased Tej Pratap providing food, water, and shelter to villagers affected by floods at his residence late Thursday night.
He personally organized their accommodations and offered financial assistance.
'Service to the poor and needy is the true service of God,' he remarked while delivering relief aid.
As the Assembly elections draw nearer, his independent political move introduces a new dimension to Bihar's already dynamic political landscape.
His activities in Raghopur and the launch of his own party are perceived as indicators of an emerging power struggle within the Yadav family and a potential challenge to the RJD's supremacy in the state.
