Tejashwi Takes Leadership Role in RJD Alongside Lalu Prasad

Patna, Jan 18 (NationPress) The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is witnessing a pivotal leadership overhaul as its founder and long-serving president Lalu Prasad Yadav officially readies to transfer authority to his son, Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.

In a significant meeting of the RJD National Executive, both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav were given full control over all critical decisions concerning the party, including its name and election symbol. This resolution cements Tejashwi Yadav’s role as the successor to Lalu Yadav and signifies a monumental transition within the party.

Due to health issues, Lalu Prasad Yadav expressed that Tejashwi Yadav would assume a larger leadership role and called for the party's unwavering support. The party's constitution was revised to allow Tejashwi to wield equal decision-making power with Lalu Prasad Yadav, facilitating a seamless leadership change.

RJD leader Ramchandra Purve has been designated as the election officer to manage organizational elections. The election for the National President is scheduled for July 5, which is anticipated to formalize Tejashwi Yadav’s ascension to the role.

Subsequent elections for the state president and additional organizational positions will ensue, with a state executive meeting slated for June 21 to deliberate on the selection of Bihar's new state president. Discussions during the National Executive meeting concentrated on essential organizational and political strategies, aimed at revitalizing the party’s framework and gearing up for forthcoming elections.

RJD leader Manoj Jha remarked, "The bugle has been sounded. The emphasis is not solely on a transition of power in Bihar but on a more profound transformation of concern."

“The decision to initiate organizational elections aims to boost participation from party members and foster young leadership within the RJD,” Jha elaborated. This move is seen as a step towards modernizing the party while staying true to its foundational principles. This transition symbolizes the conclusion of an era dominated by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has shaped the political narrative of the RJD since its establishment.

With Tejashwi Yadav at the helm, the party aspires to strengthen its standing and prepare for upcoming electoral challenges both in Bihar and on a national scale.

Tejashwi Yadav’s prominence within the RJD has been progressively growing, marked by his crucial role in the party’s alliance strategy under the INDIA bloc and his effective leadership during the Bihar Assembly elections. As the likely next president of the RJD, he is set to guide the party into a fresh phase, emphasizing youth involvement, grassroots mobilization, and addressing urgent issues like unemployment and inflation.
