The state has planned the creation of a cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) City on a vast 200 acres in the Fourth City. The Governor made these remarks at the Republic Day celebrations at Parade Ground, where he hoisted the national flag alongside Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, his cabinet members, and senior officials.
The Governor emphasized that infrastructure development is crucial for the growth of Telangana. The expansion of the Metro rail system will facilitate sustainable urban transportation. Additionally, the Musi River Rejuvenation Project is another significant endeavor aimed at revitalizing the river and its surroundings, transforming it into a lively urban space with an improved ecological balance and recreational amenities.
“These initiatives collectively demonstrate the state government’s dedication to the sustainable development of Hyderabad and enhancing the quality of life for residents of our dynamic capital,” he stated.
The construction of elevated expressways and the Regional Ring Road is set to enhance connectivity and mobility, fostering both economic and social integration. The Governor highlighted that agreements made during the Davos summit have attracted investments exceeding Rs.1.78 lakh crore, further establishing Telangana’s standing as a hub for IT, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable growth. These initiatives are expected to create 49,500 jobs and advance Telangana’s industrial development. By nurturing a conducive environment for business and innovation, the state continues to draw global interest as a leader in industrial excellence. Telangana has emerged as a center for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in the IT and pharma sectors. The state government has introduced the Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, which aims to ensure energy security while providing clean, reliable, and affordable power to consumers.
Governor Varma articulated that Telangana envisions a state that is united, inclusive, and progressive, urging a recommitment to the constitutional values of democracy, liberty, welfare, and equity.
He noted that Telangana is at a crucial juncture in its history. The people's mandate from December 2023 has resulted in a government dedicated to fulfilling the aspirations of every citizen, ensuring governance that is inclusive, transparent, and grounded in democratic principles and constitutional values.
The government is initiating four key programs on Republic Day to enhance the quality of life for all societal segments. Under Rythu Bharosa, farmers will receive financial aid of Rs 12,000 per acre of arable land. The government is also launching Indiramma Aathmeeya Bharosa, which provides Rs 12,000 in financial support to landless agricultural labor families. To ensure food security, new ration cards will be issued, along with the provision of super fine rice on ration cards.
Through the Indiramma Indlu housing scheme, financially eligible and homeless families will receive Rs.5 lakhs to build homes. The government plans to construct 450,000 houses in 2024-2025 with a budget of Rs 22,500 crore. The Governor asserted the government's commitment to implementing six transformative guarantees including free bus travel for women and transgenders, gas cylinders at Rs 500, free electricity of up to 200 units for poor families, enhancement of the Aarogyasree limit, and the establishment of Telangana International School.
He highlighted the welfare and development programs launched by the government over the past year. Noting that agriculture is the backbone of Telangana’s economy, he stated that the state has achieved the remarkable milestone of becoming the highest paddy-producing state in the country, with a record production of 1.59 crore tonnes during the 2024 rainy season. The government swiftly honored its promise by implementing a Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver within 27 days to alleviate financial burdens and meet the needs of farmers statewide. The crop loan waiver benefits 25,35,934 farmers, totaling an impressive Rs 20,616.89 crore.
An Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission has been established to provide necessary support for farmers' welfare. A total of 566 Rythu Vedikas have been set up with Audio Visual Media worth Rs.20.94 crore. Rythu Nestham is now functional in all 532 rural mandals of the state, enabling farmers, scientists, and administrators to engage in regular, structured video conferences. This initiative promotes knowledge exchange and cooperation, enhancing agricultural development and rural empowerment.
Governor Varma affirmed that the Empowerment of Women is central to Telangana’s development agenda. The Mahalakshmi Scheme allows free travel for women on public transport buses, a transformative initiative that enhances mobility, financial independence, and access to opportunities. To date, women have made 133.91 crore free bus trips, saving Rs 4,501.10 crore.
