Hyderabad, Feb 15 (NationPress) On Saturday, the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh paid heartfelt tributes to the social reformer and spiritual leader of the Banjara tribal community, Sant Sevalal Maharaj, in honor of his birth anniversary.

Telangana's Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, who was visiting New Delhi, presented floral tributes to the portrait of Sevalal Maharaj, emphasizing that he served as a spiritual beacon for the Banjara community.

In celebration of Sevalal Maharaj's birth anniversary, the Telangana government has granted special casual leave to government employees from the Banjara community, with official orders issued to this effect.

Additionally, a holiday was declared for educational institutions in Nirmal district, which has a significant population of the Banjara community.

According to the order released by Nirmal Collector Abhilasha Abhinav, March 8 will be designated as a working day for schools and colleges, compensating for the holiday.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka paid his respects to Sevalal Maharaj during a ceremony at Banjara Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also honored Sevalal Maharaj on his birth anniversary. At an event in Amaravati, he garlanded the portrait of Sevalal Maharaj.

Chandrababu Naidu praised Sevalal as a remarkable individual who devoted his life to serving the Banjaras. The Chief Minister noted that Sevalal worked diligently to eliminate superstitions and social injustices. He often stated that one should act without anticipation of rewards, Naidu remarked.

The Chief Minister affirmed that Sevalal practiced the principle of non-violence even prior to Mahatma Gandhi's advocacy of it, and he pledged that the government is devoted to alleviating the backwardness experienced by tribal communities.

Minister of Human Resources Development and Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, also presented floral tributes to Sevalal's portrait. He remarked that the path illuminated by the tribal deity Sevalal Maharaj is truly commendable.

“Through sermons, songs, and writings, he inspired people and laid the groundwork for non-violence, showcasing the strength of the Banjara community. Shri Sevalal Maharaj is a spiritual figure of whom our country can be proud. I extend my respects to this great leader on his birth anniversary,” Lokesh tweeted.
