Mumbai, March 1 (NationPress) Shiv Sena UBT leader and former minister Aaditya Thackeray on Saturday urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to uphold the significance of Mumbai and refrain from relocating headquarters and offices from the city to Delhi and other states, aligning with the BJP's agenda over the last decade.
“Don’t destroy Mumbai. Cease the transfer of headquarters and offices from Mumbai to Delhi and other states, consistent with the BJP’s strategy over the last ten years. Maintain Mumbai’s significance, and we will gladly endorse such an initiative,” he stated in a post on X, responding to Chief Minister Fadnavis’ remarks about fostering the development of additional cities in Maharashtra.
“We are pleased to see more cities in Maharashtra, BUT Mumbai’s role as the business hub is far from finished. It is the BJP that has methodically attempted to diminish Mumbai's financial stature over the past decade. Despite the GIFT city offering privileges and incentives, Mumbai's importance remains unshaken,” Aaditya asserted.
“Will the NAINA Airport be developed by the State or by the BJP’s true owner? Will NAINA receive the same tax benefits as the GIFT city?” he queried. “Will the NAINA city develop organically through state efforts, or will it favor the company that actually owns the BJP and is behind the Navi Mumbai Airport’s development and operations?” he questioned.
He continued, “Cities with a history spanning decades, some even centuries, have thrived due to their inherent strengths as global finance/business/trade centers and will never vanish. NAINA city will flourish just like Navi Mumbai, driven by its own capabilities. And before we discuss additional cities, let’s address our air pollution (at least acknowledge the issue) and the chaos from the dug-up streets caused by your government allies.”
Previously, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced at a conference on Friday that NAINA would be the third city designed to meet all business requirements.
“Mumbai has fulfilled its role as the financial capital. New infrastructure from the 2000s was lost to IT hubs during the shift to Hyderabad and Bengaluru,” he noted.
He also mentioned that 60 percent of the Data Center capacity is being established in Navi Mumbai, with the first M-hub set to launch soon. The government aims to create a plug-and-play space in Navi Mumbai.
