Bengaluru, July 22 (NationPress) Former Congress MP D.K. Suresh has claimed that there is a deliberate attempt to ensnare him and his brother, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, in various cases to harass them. Speaking to reporters at his Bengaluru residence, Suresh stated, "Even though the ED's case against us has been resolved, we face constant attempts to entrap us in ongoing cases and harass us. This is a tactic employed by the central government."
He emphasized the significance of the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the MUDA case, highlighting the use of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as a political tool. "The ruling issued by the Supreme Court yesterday (July 21) is consequential. This isn't the first instance where the Supreme Court has expressed concerns about the ED's conduct and overreach. Over the past two years, the Apex court has made strong observations on this matter. It's evident that the ED operates as a pawn for the ruling party. Just last week, the Madras High Court also criticized ED officials regarding a case," Suresh remarked.
He accused the Union government of stifling opposition leaders. In response to BJP's objections about the division of BBMP into five zones, he remarked, "Debates and discussions on such matters are inevitable. The state government will thoroughly consider it."
When questioned about rural areas falling under this jurisdiction, he responded, "Rapid urbanization necessitates that basic infrastructure be accessible to everyone. However, delivering these services through a gram panchayat is unfeasible. Bengaluru's population is 1.4 crore. One commissioner cannot oversee everything. The government is making decisions to ensure improved governance with everyone's input."
On the Chief Minister and Deputy CM's visit to Delhi, he noted, "They are set to discuss various topics, including party organization, with party leaders. With Parliament in session, they will also meet Union Ministers to address pending grants and projects for the state. It’s normal for D.K. Shivakumar to visit Delhi."
Regarding Shivakumar's absence from the 'Sadhana Samavesha' in Mysuru, Suresh stated, "The Chief Minister has already clarified this matter; further discussion is unnecessary."
