Hyderabad, June 20 (NationPress) A remarkable turnout of individuals marked the 24-hour countdown to International Yoga Day at Lal Bahadur Stadium on Friday. This event, orchestrated by the ministries of coal and steel, attracted numerous Yoga enthusiasts, youth, students, and government staff from both Hyderabad and Secunderabad, as well as nearby districts.
Prominent figures from diverse backgrounds also took part in the Yoga session.
The event featured Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Steel Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, former Women’s Commission member Khushbu Sunder, and film personalities Sai Dharam Tej and Meenakshi Chowdary.
Organizers extended invitations to celebrities, political leaders, sports figures, software professionals, medical practitioners, and other distinguished guests.
Kishan Reddy noted that approximately 40,000 individuals united to showcase their commitment through Yoga. Participants engaged in various Yoga asanas under the mentorship of skilled instructors.
The Union Minister emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared Yoga with the world, stating, “Currently, 200 nations embrace Yoga as a means for health, mental tranquility, personal growth, and unity. This achievement is a source of pride for all Indians.”
As a Lok Sabha member representing Secunderabad, Kishan Reddy remarked that global anticipation for International Yoga Day on June 21 is palpable.
“The enthusiasm is evident worldwide. Numerous Yoga events will unfold both in India and internationally,” he added.
Additionally, the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is hosting a distinctive celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day in Chegur, located in the Rangareddy district near Hyderabad.
Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar will grace the event at Kanha Wellness Centre, where over 3,000 individuals with disabilities will showcase Yoga to promote inclusion, unity, and well-being.
The event is organized by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) and will feature cultural performances, sports activities, a purple fest, and an ability mela.
