Chennai, Oct 30 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident of murder occurring in broad daylight, three individuals, including two women, have been apprehended regarding the violent death of a young man from Puducherry right in the city's center.
A senior police official indicated that the suspects are under interrogation to uncover further details regarding their links to other gang members.
There is also a belief that another suspect is on the run, with ongoing efforts to capture him.
The victim, identified as Prakash, was involved in government contracting and had traveled to Chennai for business purposes.
As per police reports, the incident unfolded on the 4th Main Road in Ashok Nagar while Prakash was seated inside a luxury vehicle, engaged in conversation with his girlfriend.
Out of nowhere, a gang of four on two motorcycles blocked his car, forcibly pulled Prakash out, and brutally attacked him with machetes before escaping on Wednesday.
The horrific assault, executed in plain sight, sent shockwaves through the local community, prompting terrified bystanders to scream and seek shelter.
Police from the Ashok Nagar precinct arrived promptly after receiving alerts about the incident.
Prakash's body was discovered lying in a pool of blood next to his car and was subsequently sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for an autopsy.
Utilizing CCTV footage from the vicinity, the police managed to locate and detain three suspects - Dhananchezhiyan (42), his wife Sukanya (37), and her friend Gunasundari (27), all hailing from Vandavasi in the Tiruvannamalai district.
The couple works for the Cuddalore Transport Department. Preliminary investigations disclosed that Sukanya had a prior acquaintance with Prakash, with a personal conflict suspected as the motive behind the murder.
Authorities stated that the attackers had followed Prakash's vehicle for some distance before launching their assault. This daylight murder has raised tensions in the area, with residents expressing concerns about the audacity of the crime.
