Mumbai, June 3 (NationPress) The dental technology startup Toothsi, known for offering convenient and cost-effective clear aligners for teeth straightening, is currently encountering significant backlash from users regarding alleged mismanagement, deceptive practices, and inadequate after-sales support.

A multitude of users have taken to the social media platform X and various consumer forums to voice their negative experiences, raising alarming questions about the company's operational integrity.

One user, Geet Dhir, a self-identified advocate, publicly expressed his disappointment, stating: "Keeping this in mind, I am eagerly waiting for your positive response because I am nearing the end of the last received 8th aligners. Please send the new aligner to me promptly. I both insist and request this."

Excited to try Toothsi's services for Rs 50,000, she received a call from the company before even mailing her dental impressions, informing her that they had already been rejected.

She was subsequently asked to pay an extra Rs 11,000 for a 3D scan at one of their centers. "They rejected impressions I hadn’t even sent," she said, adding that the justification of a "pre-assessment" felt like a tactic to extract more money from her.

According to a report by Voxya, another user, Fahima N, submitted a complaint on March 18, outlining her troubling experience. She mentioned that while she was promised a fully remote process following a video consultation, the company later insisted she travel long distances for treatment.

She was also informed she needed a tooth extraction, but local dentists refused to comply with Toothsi’s prescription, deeming it unsafe.

Despite these complications, she received her aligners prior to the extraction being approved or completed, raising questions about their customization.

When she sought cancellation, she was informed she would still incur charges as the loan had already been processed.

MakeO, the parent company of Toothsi and its skincare division Skinnsi, secured considerable funding in January 2025 at a valuation of Rs 2,231 crore ($270 million).
