Jaipur, Nov 15 (NationPress) Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stated on Saturday that tribal populations have safeguarded the principles of nature, culture, bravery, and truth for centuries, creating one of the most dynamic aspects of the state's identity.
During the state-level Tribal Pride Day festivities marking the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda at Shri Bhogilal Government College, Dungarpur, he remarked that the tribal heritage is characterized by both struggle and remarkable glory.
Sharma further celebrated tribal customs, festivals, and dances, referring to them as living narratives of generations that enrich the cultural tapestry of Rajasthan.
He emphasized the state's dedication to preserving these traditions and presenting them with pride on a global stage.
Honoring tribal legends, the Chief Minister reflected on Govind Guru, who unified the Bhil community through the Bhagat movement, and Kalibai, who at just 12 years old, sacrificed her life to defend her teacher.
Sharma acknowledged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is steering the nation towards comprehensive and inclusive progress, implementing groundbreaking initiatives for tribal welfare.
Describing the PM's homage to Lord Birsa Munda as a “national commitment,” Sharma asserted that India remains grateful for Dharti Aba's sacrifice.
Discussing state initiatives, Sharma mentioned an increase in hostel mess allowances, the establishment of 232 new Ma-Baadi centers, and a 10 percent annual rise in staff honorariums for the past two years.
“Free hybrid maize seeds have been distributed to 8.39 lakh tribal farmers, and 2.36 lakh minikits have been provided. Over 150,000 women are benefiting from 530 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras, and around 5,000 tribal youth have received skill development training,” stated the Chief Minister.
He commended the accomplishments of tribal athletes, noting that Rajasthan earned five gold medals and one bronze at the 3rd National Lacrosse Championship, and tribal girls secured silver in the Asian Lacrosse Championship.
Sharma highlighted landmark projects such as the Dharti Aaba Tribal Village Utkarsh Abhiyan and PM-JANMAN, which are enhancing infrastructure, education, health, and livelihood opportunities for tribal communities.
Lastly, he recognized the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, declaring it the essence that inspired freedom fighters from Birsa Munda to Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar Patel.
