Agartala, Oct 24 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Friday that the Mukhyamantri Sustha Shaishab and Sustho Koishor Abhiyan (MSSSKA) is set to achieve 100 percent success once again. He highlighted the state government's commitment to various initiatives aimed at making Tripura tuberculosis (TB)-free.
During the launch of the state-wide MSSSKA-8.0 in Teliamura, located in the Khowai district, the Chief Minister emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance the health sector in Tripura.
The annual programme is a collaborative effort involving the Health and Family Welfare Department, School Education Department, and Social Welfare and Social Education Department.
Saha, who oversees the Health and Family Welfare portfolio, mentioned that the MSSSKA campaign has been initiated solely by the state government.
“This initiative aims to nurture children and adolescents in a healthy environment while developing their health and nutrition effectively. The programme's focus is on protecting against worm infections, eradicating vitamin deficiencies, and addressing issues related to diarrhea and iron,” he stated.
As a dental surgeon, Saha remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi prioritizes the physical and mental development of children, asserting that achieving this goal is essential for India's progress. He acknowledged the prevalent issues of malnutrition and anemia among many children.
Highlighting that Friday’s launch aims at comprehensive development, the Chief Minister noted that the MSSSKA campaign targets children from birth up to 19 years of age.
This time, the initiative aims to reach 10,59,182 children and adolescents, running until October 30.
In conjunction with this campaign, health awareness programmes will be conducted in various locations, with iron and folic acid supplements provided to children aged six months to 19 years.
“Numerous children experience breathing difficulties, along with symptoms like diarrhea and fever. This campaign is organized to identify such issues promptly,” Saha added.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the campaign's focus on children's mental health, cleanliness, and drug prevention initiatives.
“The government is actively engaged in an anti-drug campaign throughout Tripura. Law enforcement and security agencies are persistently addressing drug-related issues. Special attention will also be given to tea gardens, brick kilns, slum areas, orphanages, and private educational institutions under this campaign,” he stated.
He expressed concern regarding the rising prevalence of HIV in Tripura.
“This issue warrants significant attention. Public awareness regarding HIV/AIDS must be enhanced, and we need to halt syringe-based drug use,” he concluded.
