Hyderabad, July 14 (NationPress) - Law enforcement officials have initiated two legal cases related to the events that transpired on Sunday at the Q-News office of Telangana MLC Teenmaar Mallanna. This follows an alleged assault on the office by members of Telangana Jagruthi, who protested against Mallanna’s purportedly derogatory comments about their leader and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha.
The personal security officer of Mallanna discharged six rounds into the air to disperse the crowd of Telangana Jagruthi supporters, who had invaded the office located in Peerzadiguda within Medipally.
As per police reports, approximately 25-30 individuals affiliated with Telangana Jagruthi arrived at Q-News to stage a protest against Mallanna’s statements.
A confrontation erupted between the individuals from Telangana Jagruthi and Mallanna's associates.
Authorities reported that members from both factions incurred injuries during the scuffle.
During the chaos, Mallanna's PSO fired six rounds into the air.
Officers from the Medipally police station of the Rachakonda Commissionerate promptly arrived at the scene and managed to disperse the protesters to restore order.
According to S. Chakrapani, Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Malkajgiri division, the forensic team has visited the site to gather evidence.
He stated that grievances were lodged by both parties, leading to the registration of both cases.
Each side has accused the other of offenses including rioting, attempted murder, and criminal intimidation.
Mallanna has filed a complaint asserting that members of Telangana Jagruthi, allegedly incited by BRS MLC Kavitha, attacked the Q-News office, vandalized property, and attempted to take his life.
In response to his allegations, a case has been filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including 191 (2), 191 (3), 333, 109, 324 (4), 351 (3), 132 in conjunction with section 190 and 49.
On the other hand, Lingamaiah, also known as Ashok Yadav, reported that while protesting against Mallanna’s derogatory remarks towards Kavitha, he and his associates were assaulted with knives and firearms, prompting fear for their lives.
His complaint resulted in a case being registered under BNS sections 191 (2), 191 (3), 76, 127 (2), 109, 351 (3) in conjunction with Section 190.
The ACP confirmed that investigations are underway for both incidents.
Telangana Jagruthi serves as the cultural branch of BRS and is presided over by MLC Kavitha, who is the daughter of BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
Kavitha's supporters expressed outrage over remarks made by Mallanna during a meeting the preceding Saturday.
The MLC had critiqued Kavitha for celebrating the Telangana government's move to introduce an ordinance raising reservations for Backward Classes to 42% in local governance.
Teenmaar Mallanna questioned Kavitha's connection to the Backward Classes during his statements.
On March 1, 2025, the Telangana Congress suspended MLC Teenmaar Mallanna, whose real name is Chintapandu Naveen, for engaging in activities against party interests.
The party had issued a show cause notice after Mallanna publicly tore up the state government’s caste survey report for Backward Classes and used highly inappropriate language regarding the report and the government.
Having been elected as MLC in June 2024 from the Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam graduate MLC constituency as a Congress candidate, Mallanna manages the YouTube channel Q-News and is known for his outspoken criticism of former Chief Minister KCR and his family.
