Bengaluru, Sep 13 (NationPress) Tragically, two individuals, including a woman, lost their lives in a morning collision on Saturday when a canter vehicle crashed into an auto-rickshaw at the crowded Sumanahalli Junction Road in Bengaluru.
Several passengers in the car sustained significant injuries.
The report came from the Kamakshipalya Traffic Police Station, detailing how the canter driver lost control and collided with both the auto and a car. The fatalities included a female passenger in the auto and the male driver, both of whom died instantly.
The deceased were identified as D. Yeshu and Jennifer. Among those injured in the car, two individuals are in serious condition, fighting for their lives.
The impact was so severe that it tore the auto into two pieces. Authorities suspect that the collision was caused by a possible brake failure of the canter.
Initial investigations indicate that the canter, traveling on a sloped service road, suddenly veered into the main road and struck the auto and the car.
Four individuals were in the car, including a woman and a child, who fortunately escaped with minor injuries.
The auto was CNG-powered, leading to a leakage from the vehicle. Fire and emergency personnel quickly responded to seal the leak and avert any risk of explosion. The police are continuing their investigation.
This accident occurred just a day after a truck tragically plowed into a crowd during the Ganesh Visarjan celebrations on Friday night, resulting in nine deaths and injuring 20 others in the Hassan district of Karnataka.
According to police reports, the truck driver was speeding and driving recklessly, leading to the incident during the Ganesh immersion at Mosale Hosahalli.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed his condolences for the tragic loss of lives and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the PMNRF.
The state government has also pledged Rs 5 lakh compensation for the victims and free medical treatment for those injured.
