United Nations, June 13 (NationPress) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has conveyed his deepest sympathies to the families affected by the tragic Air India accident in Ahmedabad, as reported by his Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq.
“The Secretary-General is profoundly saddened by the unfortunate incident involving the Air India aircraft in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on June 12, which resulted in the loss of more than 200 lives aboard, in addition to casualties and injuries at the BJ Medical College hostel that was impacted during the incident,” Haq stated on Thursday.
Guterres offers his sincere condolences to the bereaved families, the people and Government of India, as well as to all nations whose citizens were affected by this catastrophe. He also wishes for a quick and comprehensive recovery for the injured,” Haq added.
The Boeing Dreamliner, which was en route to Gatwick Airport near London, tragically crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport.
The aircraft was carrying 242 passengers and crew members, with reports indicating at least one survivor from the crash.
At least five individuals were reported dead on the ground as the plane struck a medical college campus, according to reports.
