New Delhi, April 14 (NationPress) Robert Vadra, spouse of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, expressed his approval on the apprehension of fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, calling it a pivotal moment for the nation.

He underscored the necessity of reclaiming misappropriated funds from the fugitive businessman and ensuring compensation for those impacted by the massive Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam.

In a statement to IANS, Vadra remarked, “This is excellent news for everyone. If a person has committed a wrongdoing, they must be caught and held accountable.”

Significantly, 65-year-old Mehul Choksi was detained in Belgium on Saturday. The fugitive faces investigations from the CBI and ED for allegedly defrauding the PNB of Rs 13,850 crore, alongside his nephew Nirav Modi.

Vadra also expressed his opinions regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act and the protests and unrest surrounding the new law.

“A peaceful atmosphere should prevail everywhere. There must not be any politics of discrimination. Our country boasts a rich heritage of culture and civilization, and we must work to preserve and honor this legacy for future generations,” he stated.

He further asserted that individuals of all religious backgrounds should be treated equally, and there should be no attempts to create division among communities based on differing faiths.

Vadra addressed the media while reaching out to the community to offer assistance ahead of his birthday.

“I begin serving the community 10 days prior to my birthday. Throughout the year, I aim to reach every part of the country to assist those in need. Ten days before my birthday, I visit various places to help people,” he explained.

“Whether the individuals in need are daughters, the elderly, or anyone else, I strive to meet their needs with sincerity. Whether it involves providing computers, tricycles, or clothing, we do not require a special occasion for this,” he added.
