New Delhi, Oct 2 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu expressed her heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Vijayadashami, praying for the strength to create a society where harmony and peace reign.

Vijayadashami, commonly referred to as Dussehra, is celebrated every year at the end of Shardiya Navaratri. This festival occurs on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin in the Hindu lunisolar calendar, symbolizing the victory of good over evil.

In her remarks, President Murmu emphasized, "On this auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens."

She further noted, "Representing the victory of Dharma over Adharma, the festival of Vijayadashami motivates us to pursue the ideals of truth and justice."

"Observed across the nation as Ravana Dahan and Durga Puja, this festival embodies the core values of India. It encourages us to discard negative traits like anger and pride, while embracing positive qualities such as resilience and valor," she stated.

"My hope is that this festival propels us toward creating a society and country where every individual thrives with justice, equality, and harmony," President Murmu added.

The term Vijayadashami combines 'vijaya', signifying victory, and 'dashami', which denotes the tenth day, celebrating the conquest of righteousness over malevolent forces.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his wishes via social media on this auspicious day.

"Vijayadashami symbolizes the triumph of good and truth over evil and deception. My wish is that this sacred occasion inspires everyone to persistently advance on the path of courage, wisdom, and devotion," PM Modi expressed on X.

He concluded with, "Sending my warmest wishes of Vijayadashami to my family members across the nation."
