Vijender Gupta Critiques AAP Administration for Inability to Control Crime and Drug Trade in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 5 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, has condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration for its inability to control criminal activities and the drug trade in the national capital during a discussion focused on the city's law and order situation in the Assembly session.

On Wednesday, Gupta claimed that the AAP government is providing protection to Rohingyas and drug traffickers, resulting in a surge of criminal activities throughout the city.

He stated that when he attempted to bring attention to the crores of rupees spent on Arvind Kejriwal's "Sheesh Mahal," his microphone was silenced, and he was prevented from speaking, as per a press statement from the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, Delhi Assembly.

In voicing his protest, Gupta accused the AAP government of being accountable for the rising crime rate in Delhi, asserting that it is attempting to issue voter IDs to thousands of illegally residing Rohingyas using fraudulent documents to include them on voter lists. He claimed that these Rohingyas are engaged in the drug trade and various criminal activities, as outlined in the statement.

Gupta further criticized the AAP government for suppressing the opposition's voice, eroding democratic principles, and intentionally evading discussions on public interest matters in the Assembly.

He mentioned that the opposition's requests to discuss vital issues such as the "Sheesh Mahal," CAG reports, air pollution, education, health, and infrastructure were dismissed.

Despite these concerns being raised, the government declined to facilitate discussions. In protest, BJP legislators boycotted the Assembly session and organized demonstrations on the premises. Opposition legislators displayed placards with slogans like "Delhi Sarkar Kangal, Sheesh Mahal me Kejriwal" to voice their dissent, according to the statement.

Gupta asserted that the AAP government has repeatedly demonstrated that its priority is not public welfare but rather self-aggrandizement.

He criticized the government for making grand claims while neglecting ground realities, such as severe air pollution, dilapidated roads, inadequate public transport, and unresolved water and sewage issues.

He pointed out that pollution levels in Delhi have reached hazardous limits, yet the government has failed to implement effective measures, including addressing stubble burning or enhancing public transport, as mentioned in the release.

He emphasized that the enforcement of GRAP-IV has left two million workers unemployed, putting their families into extreme poverty without any financial assistance from the government.

Projects like smog towers and electric buses remain merely theoretical. Numerous areas in Delhi lack access to clean water, yet the government continues to disregard public grievances and engage in political propaganda. When the opposition raises these concerns, members of the ruling party disrupt Assembly proceedings, the statement noted.

Gupta declared that he will not tolerate the government's authoritarianism and negligence under any circumstances.

He promised not to allow the people of Delhi to be deceived, regardless of whether the issue pertains to air pollution, deteriorating healthcare, or corruption.

He demanded accountability from the government on all fronts and insisted on meaningful discussions regarding issues such as CAG reports, air pollution, health, education, and infrastructure.

Gupta stated that the opposition will not accept the government's arbitrary actions and will persist in voicing its demands, the release added.
