Patna, Sep 1 (NationPress) On the final day of the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Patna, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the Yatra, spearheaded by the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Bihar's LoP Tejashwi Yadav, is generating conversations nationwide.
“The Voter Adhikar Yatra is capturing attention across the nation. Despite the BJP's attempts to thwart it, the citizens of Bihar, along with Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and leaders of the Grand Alliance, stood their ground. Ultimately, our Yatra concluded successfully,” he remarked.
Kharge emphasized that Bihar is the birthplace of democracy, alleging that the BJP is collaborating with the Election Commission to undermine both democracy and the Constitution.
He also underscored LoP Rahul Gandhi's ongoing nationwide initiatives.
“Following the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, and Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhaan Yatra, Rahul Gandhi, alongside Tejashwi Yadav and our Mahagathbandhan partners, led this Voter Adhikar Yatra. It garnered substantial public backing. Together, we must defend our voting rights,” he declared.
Kharge also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of consistent “dishonesty” and “electoral malpractice.”
“At times, he misappropriates your funds; at other times, he manipulates your votes. Modi aims to secure electoral victories in Bihar through vote theft, and we must remain vigilant. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru granted us the voting right, and we must not allow it to be taken away,” Kharge addressed the crowd.
CPI National Secretary Annie Raja and CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby also criticized the BJP, branding it a danger to democracy.
Annie Raja asserted that voting is our constitutional right.
“We must guard this constitutional right. Our crusade against vote theft will persist, and with public support, we will oust the vote thieves from authority.”
CPI(M) leader M A Baby echoed similar sentiments, stating that the BJP's vote theft is becoming apparent.
“These individuals are adversaries of democracy. By stealing votes, the BJP is assaulting the Constitution. We must unite to protect our voting rights,” he stressed.
