Patna, Sep 1 (NationPress) Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a vehement critique of the BJP on Monday, accusing them of orchestrating significant electoral fraud with the complicity of the Election Commission of India. Speaking to a large crowd at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park in Patna, on the final day of the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', LoP Gandhi proclaimed that he would soon unveil what he called “vote theft” orchestrated by the BJP.
“Previously, we showcased the atom bomb to expose the BJP’s vote theft in collaboration with the Election Commission. Now, we’re bringing something even more powerful than an atom bomb — a hydrogen bomb. This will force PM Narendra Modi to confront the public,” LoP Gandhi stated, eliciting enthusiastic cheers from attendees.
The Congress MP asserted that the BJP had manipulated voter registries to undermine democratic outcomes in various states.
“Our allies in Maharashtra, including Sanjay Raut from the Shiv Sena Uddhav faction, are aware of how votes were pilfered during the last Assembly election. In 2024, the Congress-Shiv Sena (UBT)-NCP alliance triumphed in the Lok Sabha election in Maharashtra. Yet, within just four months, the BJP, with the help of the Election Commission, added one crore voters to the rolls, leading to our loss. They executed similar tactics in Karnataka,” LoP Gandhi alleged.
He also noted that despite numerous requests, the Election Commission refused to provide access to video proof and voter lists.
“Our team meticulously reviewed the voter registrations, a process that took four months, and we successfully demonstrated how they added voters in Maharashtra and Karnataka,” he said.
Warning that similar strategies were being devised for Bihar, LoP Gandhi stated that the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' was intended to raise awareness.
“The BJP and the Election Commission aim to replicate their fraudulent tactics here. That’s why we undertook this Yatra. Bihar is a revolutionary land — the youth, women, and children stand with us. A message has reverberated across the nation: The BJP and the Election Commission are stealing votes, and they are now exposed,” he declared.
LoP Gandhi compared democracy to fundamental rights, introducing a new slogan to the crowd.
“Today, a new slogan resonates in the country: ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chor.’ It echoes not only in India but also in countries like China and the USA. Vote theft equates to the theft of rights, reservations, employment, education, democracy, and the future of our youth,” he informed the audience.
He also referenced Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy to caution against authoritarianism.
“The same forces that assassinated Mahatma Gandhi are now attempting to eradicate democracy and the Constitution. But we will not permit them to prevail,” he asserted.
