Kolkata, Nov 29 (NationPress) In a shocking incident, a woman was forcibly taken into a car, made to consume alcohol, and subsequently molested by a group of men on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata, West Bengal, as reported by the police on Saturday.
The distressing event occurred on Friday night, following which a formal complaint was registered at the Pragati Maidan Police Station.
The authorities have initiated an investigation and are actively searching for the suspects and the vehicle involved.
The victim has been hospitalized at SSKM Hospital for necessary medical attention.
As per police reports, the victim is a 28-year-old married woman residing in Kolkata.
On Friday evening, around 9 p.m., she was at a bus stand awaiting an app-based cab near the Pragati Maidan police jurisdiction along the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.
At that moment, a vehicle arrived with three individuals inside, one of whom was a known acquaintance of the victim.
The woman had been in contact with him for approximately three months.
Upon the car's arrival, she was forcibly pulled inside.
In her statement to the police, the victim expressed that she was compelled to drink alcohol laced with drugs and then subjected to physical assault.
Eventually, the car abandoned her in the Maidan area before fleeing.
She was found in a vulnerable state and taken to SSKM Hospital for treatment.
The hospital staff alerted the police, who then visited the facility to take her statement.
A case has been filed against the alleged perpetrators based on her accusations.
