Patna, May 20 (NationPress) Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan expressed strong disapproval on Tuesday regarding the inflammatory comments made by Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. He asserted that if Shah had been affiliated with his party, he would have been expelled for life.

During a public speech on May 12, Shah referred to Colonel Qureshi as a "sister of terrorists" and has since refrained from public appearances after the Madhya Pradesh Police initiated a case against him on May 14.

While addressing journalists in Hajipur, Paswan labeled Shah's remarks as "disgraceful" and unfit for any public official. He stated, "No individual is above our armed forces. Our safety is a result of their sacrifices. We must honor our soldiers. Comparing them to terrorists, as done by a Madhya Pradesh Minister, is utterly shameful."

Paswan added, "Had such a statement come from someone in my party, I would have promptly removed them permanently. However, being part of the NDA, my only recourse is to urge the Madhya Pradesh government to take necessary actions."

Reiterating his confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Paswan said, "I trust that under the Prime Minister's leadership in the NDA with the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas', we will continue to uphold the dignity of our armed forces."

Vijay Shah faces charges under multiple provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 152 (actions threatening the sovereignty and integrity of India), Section 196(1)(b) (instigating hostility between various groups based on religion, race, or language), and Section 197(1)(c).

Following directives from the Supreme Court, Madhya Pradesh's Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday to investigate the issue.

The SIT includes Inspector General of Police (IG) for Sagar Zone Pramod Verma, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Special Armed Forces (SAF) Kalyan Chakravarty, and Superintendent of Police Vahini Singh, who also works with the Special Armed Forces.

IG Pramod Verma is based in the Sagar range, DIG Kalyan Chakravarty is stationed with SAF in Bhopal, and Vahini Singh serves as SP in Dindori.

The controversy arose after Shah's comments concerning military operations at the Pakistan border, during which he allegedly labeled Colonel Sofiya Qureshi a "sister of terrorists."

This statement triggered an uproar and led to judicial scrutiny, reprimanding him for his inappropriate remarks.

Point of View
