Bhopal, Feb 12 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid a heartfelt homage to Guru Ravidas on his 648th birth anniversary during a ceremony at Hindi Bhavan on Wednesday.
Joined by Bhopal (Dakshin-Paschim) MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, the Chief Minister ignited a lamp and presented floral offerings at the statue of the esteemed 15th-century poet-saint. He also conveyed his best wishes for the welfare of the state's populace.
In his address, Yadav underlined Guru Ravidas' unwavering commitment to humanity and his initiatives to eliminate social injustices. “Sant Ravidas' principles centered on equality and noble living will perpetually motivate future generations. We must adhere to his ideals of humanity and fraternity to cultivate a cohesive and resilient society,” he expressed.
The Chief Minister further asserted that Guru Ravidas was an esteemed saint who advocated love, equality, and harmony. “He dedicated his existence to combatting caste discrimination, promoting social reform, and enhancing society. His teachings hold profound significance today, encouraging us to pursue a life marked by compassion, unity, and justice,” Yadav noted.
The celebration of Sant Ravidas Jayanti is taking place throughout Madhya Pradesh, with events organized by both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress at their respective party headquarters.
Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath also shared his regards, stating, “Sant Ravidas advocated that genuine religion is rooted in harmony and brotherhood, leaving no space for inequality and untouchability within social awareness.”
To commemorate the occasion, the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government has announced a public holiday, in conjunction with several other states.
Importantly, a magnificent temple dedicated to Sant Ravidas is currently in progress in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for this project in August 2023.
The temple, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 100 crore, will also house a museum dedicated to the saint's life and teachings.
