Chandigarh, July 13 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini remarked on Sunday that the youth have been consistently and collectively combating the drug menace in the state for over 10 and a half years.
Recently, a state-wide Cyclothon Yatra was organized as part of this initiative, attracting more than 750,000 young participants. Additionally, marathons and similar activities are being conducted across various districts to enhance awareness efforts.
While addressing the crowd before inaugurating a half-marathon in Kaithal, CM Saini noted the involvement of Paralympic medallist and half-marathon ambassador Harvinder Singh, along with mountaineer Reena Bhatti.
To demonstrate his commitment, the Chief Minister participated in the half-marathon to motivate the youth to maintain their health and unite in the battle against drug abuse, with the goal of transforming Haryana into a completely drug-free state. He stressed that drug addiction is a severe social issue that not only harms individuals but also devastates families and erodes societal strength.
“It negatively affects both physical and mental health and disrupts social harmony,” he stated. Highlighting the critical role of youth in nation-building, the Chief Minister declared, “Our youth are the future of the country.” He urged them to commit firmly to avoid drug use and prevent others from succumbing to it, promoting awareness to tackle this issue.
CM Saini emphasized that eradicating drug addiction would lead to healthier youth, fostering the advancement of society, the state, and the nation. He reiterated that the youth will be instrumental in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. He asserted that a drug-free Haryana is not just a slogan but a shared commitment that needs everyone's collaborative effort to fulfill.
After witnessing thousands of students, athletes, police officers, and volunteers participating in the event, he expressed, “I am confident that our aspiration of making Haryana drug-free will certainly become a reality.”
CM Saini actively engaged in the half-marathon alongside the youth, providing encouragement to all participants. Following the event, he explored stalls set up along the route.
