Amaravati, Oct 2 (NationPress) The Andhra Pradesh Police apprehended Sheikh Khaja, the Personal Assistant of former Deputy Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Amjad Basha, on Thursday due to allegations concerning derogatory social media posts directed at Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy.
A team from Kadapa arrested Khaja in Hyderabad before transporting him to Kadapa, where he is currently being interrogated at the Police Training Centre on the outskirts of the city.
Recently, Madhavi Reddy and her spouse, Srinivasula Reddy, who is a member of the TDP politburo, filed a complaint at the Kadapa One Town Police Station. They accused Amjad Basha, his sibling Ahmed Basha, and Khaja of orchestrating the alleged derogatory online content.
The police initiated a case against the trio and commenced an investigation. However, the subsequent transfer of Inspector Ramakrishna Yadav after the case was registered stirred controversy.
Local TDP leaders claimed that the inspector was reassigned for implicating Amjad Basha and his brother alongside Khaja as accused.
The YSRCP condemned Khaja's arrest, asserting that the coalition government continues its vendetta against its members. The party questioned the duration of these “illegal” arrests.
