New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) announced on Friday that 205 drug samples assessed by both Central and state regulatory authorities have been classified as ‘Not of Standard Quality (NSQ)’ in its November drug alert.
Out of these, the Central Drugs Laboratories marked 64 drug samples as NSQ, while the State Drugs Testing Laboratories reported 141 samples falling into the same category.
In accordance with routine regulatory oversight, the CDSCO portal displays a monthly list of drugs identified as Not of Standard Quality and those deemed spurious.
“For November 2025, the Central Drugs Laboratories identified 64 drug samples as Not of Standard Quality, and the State Drugs Testing Laboratories reported 141 drug samples as NSQ,” the alert stated.
Designation of drug samples as NSQ is based on the failure of the samples to meet specified quality standards. This assessment pertains strictly to the tested batch, and does not imply concerns regarding other products available in the market, according to health officials.
Additionally, in November, “two drug samples from the North Zone in Ghaziabad were flagged as spurious, manufactured by unauthorized entities using the brand names of legitimate companies,” they noted. Investigations are ongoing, and actions will be undertaken in accordance with relevant Acts and Rules.
This initiative to pinpoint NSQ and spurious medicines is carried out in regular collaboration with state regulators to ensure the removal of these drugs from circulation.
In October, the CDSCO had reported 211 drug samples tested by Central and state regulatory authorities as NSQ.
While the Central Drugs Laboratories recognized 63 drug samples as NSQ, the State Drugs Testing Laboratories identified 148 drug samples as NSQ.
