Gurugram, Oct 3 (NationPress) The 16-year-old Canadian talent Anna Huang, recognized as one of the most promising newcomers on the Ladies European Tour (LET), is set to make history at the Women’s Indian Open 2025 as she pursues an extraordinary hat-trick of titles.
Following victories in her previous two tournaments in Spain and France, Huang is now focused on clinching a third straight win at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, scheduled from October 9-12.
A success in India would position her among elite players like France’s Marie-Laure de Lorenzi (1989) and Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen (2020), marking her as only the third golfer to achieve a three-peat on the LET. Notably, Pedersen is also a former champion of the Hero Women’s Indian Open (2015) and currently competes on the LPGA Tour.
If Huang secures a victory, she will join the ranks of Marie-Laure de Lorenzi and Emily Kristine. Such a win would significantly boost Huang’s position in the LET Order of Merit.
Currently, she ranks ninth, with Mimi Rhodes leading the charts, followed by Shannon Tan, Cassandra Alexander, and Sara Kouskova — all of whom will compete at the HWIO 2025, promising an exciting competition.
Having turned professional earlier this year after finishing 29th at the LET Qualifying School 2024, Huang has already made an impact in her inaugural season. She qualified for both the U.S. Women’s Open and AIG Women’s British Open, and although she did not make the cuts, the experiences have contributed to her growth throughout the season.
Her season began modestly, but she managed to make cuts and achieve Top-20 finishes at events such as the Australian Women’s Classic and the Joburg Ladies.
After June, her performance remained consistent with T-17 in the Czech Ladies and T-14 in the Amundi German Masters. However, her career took a leap forward at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, where she placed Tied-seventh for her first career Top-10 finish.
She excelled in the following two tournaments, winning the La Sella Championship and the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, bringing her close to making history. She has become only the second Canadian to secure a title on the LET.
Huang is one of three players to achieve back-to-back wins on the LET in 2025, alongside Mimi Rhodes (Ford Women’s NSW Open & Joburg Ladies Open) and Sara Kouskova (Jabra Ladies Open & Tenerife Women’s Open). All three are expected to be leading contenders at the Hero Women’s Indian Open in Gurugram next week.
Currently ninth on the LET Order of Merit, Huang is also in the running for the Rookie of the Year award. A victory at HWIO could boost her standings significantly, with three more events to follow in the season: the Wistron Ladies Open in Taipei, the Aramco China Championship, and the Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open de España.
