Will Formula 1 Continue to Race in Austria Until 2041?

Spielberg (Austria), June 29 (NationPress) The renowned Austrian Grand Prix is set to remain on the F1 calendar until 2041, thanks to the long-term renewal of Formula 1’s agreement with promoter Projekt Spielberg GmbH & Co KG.

The Austrian Grand Prix has a rich legacy in Formula 1, having been featured on the calendar 37 times since its inception in 1964.

Initially held at the Red Bull Ring in the picturesque Styrian mountains in 1970, the venue is celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, with drivers tackling the 4.3 km circuit known for its elevation changes and an exciting mix of high- and low-speed corners that foster thrilling wheel-to-wheel action.

Although the circuit was absent from the calendar in 2004, a significant investment from the late Dietrich Mateschitz in 2010 rejuvenated the Red Bull Ring, leading to its return in 2014.

Since then, the race has garnered immense popularity among fans and drivers alike. Legendary figures from Formula 1's extensive history, including Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Michael Schumacher, and Alan Jones, have triumphed in Austria.

"The vision and dedication of Dietrich Mateschitz provided the race with the necessary investment and focus that enabled its remarkable resurgence on the Formula 1 calendar.

"Every year, returning to the stunning Styrian mountains is a highlight – an experience that evokes tremendous emotion among our drivers, teams, and fans, creating a unique atmosphere.

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Mark Mateschitz and Thomas Uberall and their team for their unwavering commitment to excellence, and to our incredible Austrian fanbase whose enthusiasm and loyalty continue to uplift this iconic race.

Four drivers from the current grid have also celebrated victories in Austria. Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and George Russell have all claimed wins at the Red Bull Ring, with Verstappen holding the record for the most victories at five (four under the Austrian Grand Prix name and once during the Styrian Grand Prix in 2021).
