Chengdu, Oct 26 (NationPress) Shaina Manimuthu (U15) and Diksha Sudhakar (U17) triumphed with gold medals in their respective age divisions, marking India's most successful performance in the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Championships 2025 on Sunday.
In the U15 girls' singles final, Shaina overcame Japan's Chiharu Tomita with scores of 21-14, 22-20, while Diksha Sudhakar outperformed fellow Indian Lakshya Rajesh with a convincing 21-16, 21-9 in the U17 girls' singles showdown.
Furthermore, Diksha made history by becoming the first Indian singles player to win a U17 title at the Junior Asian Championships. The impressive outcomes of Sunday ensured that the Indian team returned home with two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
The last instance of India achieving two gold medals occurred in 2013 when Siril Verma seized the U15 boys' singles title, and Chirag Shetty and MR Arjun claimed the U17 boys' doubles title.
