Bhuvneshwar Breaks the Back of Kashi's Batting

Electing to bowl first, the Lucknow Falcons applied pressure from the opening over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck three times during the powerplay, reducing the Kashi Rudras to a precarious 28/3 and knocking the stuffing out of the defending champions' top order before they could settle.

The only meaningful resistance came from Shubham Chaubey, who played a resilient knock of 46 off 32 balls. But once Chaubey departed, the innings unravelled further. Adjudged the Player of the Match, Bhuvneshwar reflected on the Falcons' turnaround. 'We were down on the points table when we started, but we have played really well in the last three matches,' he said. 'It has been very good for us and has helped us move up the table.'

On his tactical approach with the new ball, Bhuvneshwar credited simplicity and experience. 'The basic plan was to keep the ball in the right areas and try to challenge the batters with that swing,' he explained. 'I don't think you can know your variations beforehand. It depends on how the wicket is playing, the conditions, the ground dimensions — everything matters. Experience helps a lot with that.'

He also praised his opening batters' aggressive intent: 'The opening partnership, especially Himanshu's contribution, provided exactly what you need while chasing a low total. We got the perfect start today, and I cannot complain.'
