Vadodara, Jan 2 (NationPress) Vatsal Duklan and Hansini Mathan pulled off remarkable upsets today by defeating the top seeds in the boys' U-17 and girls' U-17 categories, respectively. Their victories propelled them into the quarterfinals of the WTT Youth Contenders 2026 held at the SAMA Indoor Stadium in Vadodara on Friday.

Duklan triumphed over the top seed Ritvik Gupta with a score of 4-11, 11-5, 11-7, 18-16 in an exhilarating boys’ singles pre-quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Hansini rallied from a 1-2 deficit to defeat the defending champion Divyanshi Bhowmick with scores of 5-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 11-4 in the girls' singles Round of 16.
