Stavanger (Norway), Jan 7 (NationPress) Fabiano Caruana, the reigning World No. 2 and a leading light in the chess world, is poised to participate in Norway Chess 2025. This event will signify his eighth entry into the tournament, where he will compete against some of the most formidable players worldwide.

With a current FIDE rating of 2803, Caruana is a four-time United States Chess Champion and has previously triumphed at Norway Chess. His accolades include achieving a peak rating of 2844, which ranks as the third-highest ever in chess history, and winning the 2018 Candidates Tournament to become the first American contender for the World Chess Championship since Bobby Fischer in 1972.

Caruana’s career is adorned with victories in numerous prestigious tournaments, such as the 2014 Sinquefield Cup, where he attained the highest-ever performance rating at elite levels (3098).

His impressive record also includes winning the 2020 Tata Steel Masters, 2022 American Cup, 2023 Sinquefield Cup, 2023 Grand Chess Tour, and the 2024 Superbet Chess Classic and SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz.
