SOBO Mumbai Falcons clinched the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women's League title at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 13 June, defeating Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs by 25 runs in a composed all-round display. Captain Sayali Satghare led the Falcons from the front as they defended a total of 124 to become the competition's first-ever champions.

How the Chase Unravelled

The Tigers began their pursuit steadily before losing skipper Humairaa Kaazi for 23 with the score at 37. That breakthrough proved decisive. Spinner Janhvi Kate then dismantled the middle order, first removing the tournament's leading run-scorer Sanika Chalke for 18, before dismissing Fatima Jaffer in her next over to leave the Tigers reeling.

Sejal Raut offered brief resistance with a determined 23, but Janhvi returned to claim her third wicket, reducing the Tigers to 78/4. The lower order crumbled without a single batter reaching double figures, and the Tigers were bowled out for 99 in 18.5 overs.

Star Performers with the Ball

Janhvi finished with figures of 3/21, the pick of the Falcons' attack. Thirteen-year-old Swara Jadhav — already a standout of the tournament — returned with 2/14, adding to a campaign that earned her the Purple Cap with 10 wickets overall. Sayali, Nirmiti Rane, and Akshaya Shinde each chipped in with a wicket.

The Falcons' Innings: Recovery Act

Batting first, SOBO Mumbai Falcons recovered from a shaky start — losing both openers with just 22 runs on the board — to post 124/6 in their 20 overs. Simran Shaikh anchored the recovery with a composed 50 off 35 deliveries, striking six fours and two sixes. She received support from Sarika Koli (24) and captain Sayali, who added 27. For the Tigers, Ritika Yadav was the standout bowler with 3/22, while Manali Dakshini and Humairaa took a wicket each.

Tournament Awards and Emerging Talent

Despite the Tigers' defeat, Sanika Chalke claimed the Orange Cap as the tournament's highest run-scorer with 223 runs. The inaugural edition drew attention to several young players, with Swara and Sanika among those who made the most of the platform.

The league was conducted under the leadership of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik and League Governing Council Chairman Rajdip Gupta. Winning captain Sayali credited the association for the opportunity: I think it's a great initiative by the Mumbai Cricket Association, and we genuinely thank all the MCA staff for giving us this opportunity through this league. It's a great opportunity for all of us, as having that exposure helps players become more confident. With the women's final concluded, attention shifts to the men's final, where Shivam Dube-led Arcs Andheri will face defending champions Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals, captained by Siddhesh Lad. The T20 Mumbai Women's League, in its first edition, has already signalled the depth of talent in Mumbai women's cricket — and a second season will be eagerly anticipated.
